About the Role
Based in BYD’s Mulgrave office and reporting to the Product Planning Manager, this role requires a deep understanding of both the global and Australian automotive industries, strong analytical capabilities, knowledge of emerging vehicle technologies, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Product Planning Specialist. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Market Research and Analysis
Conduct comprehensive market research to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape.
Analyse data to derive actionable insights and recommend product strategies.
Product Strategy Development
Develop and implement product plans that align with the company's overall strategy and market demands.
Define product positioning, target markets, competitive advantages and key step-up performance vehicle attributes
Collaborate with engineering, design, and marketing teams to ensure product plans are feasible and aligned with company goals.
Product Lifecycle Management
Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to launch, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
Monitor product performance and make necessary adjustments based on market feedback and sales data, such as managing Special Edition models, facelift and next generation.
Develop pricing strategies to support the positioning of these products to balance profit, sales volume targets and brand development
Product Training & Education
Create and deliver presentations and facilitate learning experiences for intracompany departments to highlight key vehicle attributes
Support this business with detailed product queries
Stakeholder Engagement
Engage with our distributors and dealers to gather feedback and ensure customer satisfaction and great user experiences.
Build consensus with stakeholders to align product plans with wider business objectives.
Key requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Product Planning, Product Management, or a related role within the automotive industry.
Strong understanding of the Australasian automotive market, including industry trends, consumer preferences, emerging technologies, and competitor landscape.
Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication, presentation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Australian Citizenship, Permanent Residency, or unrestricted working rights in Australia.
